i really enjoyed watching this documentary. it wasn't extraordinary, but was an interesting look into the lives of two women who want to bring up a child and the challenges, as well as the great joys, they encounter. i'll never forget seeing this because watching it happened to be the first time in my life that i saw a place where i would love to be someday. i so admired the fact that these two women shared such a bond and a passion for raising a child, for family. (also had a little crush on Leslie, but shh!)

heart-wrenching. one of the best documentaries i've ever seen and a painful reminder of the extreme strength, courage and persistence it takes for gay people to achieve basic human rights. our backward society has such a long way to go.

i think this is a classic and i'm glad i finally saw it. i could very much relate with Liana's coming out. i guess i was a bit frustrated with the way her relationship with Ruth went, but there is realism in the situation. i think the film teaches a lesson about how hard life can be when you face who you really are and things don't always turn out the way you expected. (btw, i hate this cover design.)

my second favorite adaptation from Sarah Waters. her stories, in a class of their own, are so full of rich drama, raw passion and clever twists - there is never a dull moment. i don't like to say too much about the Sarah Waters films as i believe they are always best experienced with as few hints as possible. at the end i am always left craving more.

i can't say enough about this Sarah Waters classic. this is a powerful film that will always be a favorite. such a rich, full experience created by great acting and an unforgettable portrayal of the joy, pain and suffering of love and independence. the "it" film loved by every lesbian i know and the go-to for hopeless romantics to curl up with and shed a tear or two. another Sarah Waters gem!! this is quite an interesting, unique addition to her other awesome works, Tipping the Velvet (still my favorite) & Fingersmith. all three films, based on Waters’ novels, have a lot in common, including shocking twists and characters to fall in love with. at the same time, each story is so unique and outstanding on it’s own. this one is not to miss! generally, seems to be the least favorite for Waters fans, but i got a lot out of it and am just as glad i saw it. for fellow fans, i don’t want to give anything away, you just have to watch it. also such a tasteful, well-done production.
